A Bold Solution for the University of Aberdeen

The University of Aberdeen is one of the UK’s oldest establishments attracting thousands of students including many postgraduates from around the world every year. The campus is spread over three main sites, all nestled within the busy Scottish city of Aberdeen. Security at the University is without out doubt the main priority and the Estates Department who manage it are keen to have the latest alarm monitoring technology to ensure that safety is never compromised.

The department first came to Bold nearly 10 years ago to help find a tailored solution to fit their security needs. Ever since, Bold has worked closely with the University installing various alarm monitoring equipment and software to provide a total turn-key solution which is manageable at every level.

Throughout the whole campus, fire and intruder as well as various panic and disabled toilet alarms are installed in over 80 sites so that in the event of any emergence the welfare of all 16,000 students and 3,000 staff is taken care professionally and quickly.

All alarms are monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by the Estates team of operators who use Bold's management software and equipment with ease and confidence. In the event of an alarm being activated, Bold’s multi-protocol receiver will feed the alarm through to the software where it will alert the controller to the exact location of the alarm allowing the operator to then take the appropriate action.

The solution is then made complete with the implementation of Bold’s support package. For example if the system suffers power or hardware problems and operators feel the need for additional support, the Estates Team have full access to 24 hour technical assistance from Bold’s team of skilled engineers. Preventative maintenance visits are also included to ensure the system is running efficiently as possible. Security at Aberdeen is therefore highly maintained proving that no aspect with be overlooked when it comes to the safety and security of all who are at the University.
