A Bold alarm monitoring choice for Runnymede

Reported October 2008

Bold Communications has been the provider for Runnymede’s alarm handling system for over 5 years. With a growing number of local authorities now taking over responsibility for monitoring their own estate, Bold has accordingly developed both off the shelf and tailored monitoring solutions. The key objectives for these types of operations are ease of use, improved service levels, efficient operation and reliable support. Bold’s scaleable alarm monitoring software, with familiar Window’s user interface and operating conventions, can be quickly mastered by control room operators. Handling alarms locally, rather than sending to remote third party ARCs, generally means a quicker response and instant access to information from the management system. Setting up new monitored sites and administration is vastly simplified and configurations created which specifically match the user’s needs. Support is provided 24/7 by Bold’s central station technicians who also can advise on operational, product and integration matters as well as pure technical support.

For Runnymede, Bold technical consultant, Shaun Gabriel, attended pre-install meetings with contractors and consultants to ensure the end result was exactly what Runnymede required. Full training was supplied within the scope of the project and, for out of hour’s, operators have access to a 24 hour Bold support line.

For Runnymede, Bolds central station monitoring solution comprises:

  • Bold alarm management software for managing multiple dispersed alarm signals. Monitoring ‘digi’ alarms at the moment, BT Redcare, DualCom, and new IP technologies can be added as required in the future.
  • A Bold RX3000 PSTN receiver for digital communicators and GSM alarm transmission.
  • All system hardware and network components.
  • Complete project management from design through to sign off.

Bob Collins from Runnymede comments, "At present we monitor fire, intruder and panic alarms for all our council properties. These include council depots, public halls, sports centres, parks, museums and multi occupational blocks. We intend to further offer our alarm monitoring services to county council properties as well as schools, colleges and universities. This is all part of our programme of partnership working. We have a long standing working relationship with Bold Communications and our experience is that their equipment and software have proved both reliable and durable as has their maintenance and service”.
For the future, Bold can add integration with third party remote CCTV and Access Control systems as required.
